eczema vs thrush?
My 6 wk old son has these tiny little bumps all over his face, head and back of neck. I think it itches him cuz he’s always trying to rub his face. at first it was just a few scattered over his face and head and the nurse told me that its baby acne, and not to put anything on it it. I closely watched this for about a week and it started to progress and make him uncomfortable to a point where I had to go in to see the Dr. who said that it is eczema and odered pramasone (a topical cream) for it. Others who have had babies think that it is thrush, and that he should also be taking something oral. What has me concern is the fact that I heard that thrush makes the tongue white. My son’s tongue is white. Has anyone’s kid experience similar problem, and if so what was used to treat it.

have you ever had ringworm?
My family and I had some visitors earlier this summer. I had just gotten over a respiratory infection given to me from my husband and was peeling from a sunburn. The visitors had 5 children and I noticed that they had some spots oin their skin and the mother gave some eczema excuse. They were on medication too. She was not honest and they gave me the fungus–I did all of their laundry when they were here those five days and then spent a day cleaning after they left. The day they left, a thursday, I started getting spots on my neck and the next Monday I saw the Dr.. For a month now I have been taking oral medications and prescribed topical cream. It has spread and I am tired of laundering my bedding daily and being cooped up in my house from fear of spreading it to others. Luckily my family has not gotten it. (knock on wood) How did you get rid of it? I am desperate for good ideas.

how significant is the correllation between the amount of oil consumed and the amount secreted thru skin?
I have read that people on a low fat diet often experience drier more brittle hair as a side effect (a small price to pay for good health). I was wondering if you would get the opposite effect from including more oil in your diet? I ask because my daughter has severe eczema and I am trying to find a way to combat it more effectively. So far I am just using topical creams which have never cleared it up entirely and she is not 2 years old yet so I can’t get any nonsteriodal prescritption creams. These types of creams are still reletively new to the market anyway and there are still questions about long term side effects. I would prefer to go the most natural route possible as long as it is effective. Since she is practically still a baby the most significant source of fat in her diet comes from her 2-3 cups of daily whole milk. I was hoping that if I supplemented her food with some healthy oils (vitamin E or Olive oil) her skin might secrete more oil as a result.
I was just looking to get some information before approaching her doctor. You know how sometimes doctors only offer you one approach, but if you bring up other options they will talk with you more extensively. I mean, your lucky to get 15 minutes of their time and I like to be prepared. Her doctor did tell me that it was a misconception that less frequent bathing would help. Although I always use nondrying soapfree cleansers on her skin.

What else should I put in my magic eczema cream?
I am working on a more ‘holistic’ approach to controlling my eczema because I don’t like relying on corticosteroids and the like. After experiencing positive results with Neem Oil and Penaten, I decided to mix the Neem Oil into the cream. This has worked wonderfully. An holistic dermatologist suggested the use of Emu Oil and Evening Primrose Oil. I have added these to the cream with some Sweet Almond Oil and a touch of Vitamin E extracts. This has had the added benefit of killing the Neem stink and the medicinal smell of the zinc oxide cream.
If anyone has experience with treating eczema with natural products I would like to hear about your experiences and suggestions. Also advise if you feel that I am omitting anything from my topical treatment so far.
BTW, my break-out areas are my elbow (just one! *counts lucky stars*) and a patch on my neck near my hairline. It used to cover the back of my neck from nape to occipital knob (where the spinal column meets the braincase).
